Patty was introduced to Ensemble TOKI through pianist Tomoko Kawamukai, when they worked together on building a website for the New Amsterdam Boys Choir. This led to the creation of tomolink.com, and further collaboration with Ensemble TOKI and NABC, including Pattys arrangement of Jim Bartows tribute to Paul Robeson. The piece was performed by the NABC at their 2006 Spring concert, and featured Patty on saxophone, as well as the members of Ensemble TOKI.
Patty holds a Bachelor of Music degree from New York University, where she studied music education and jazz. She continued her studies at SUNY Oswego, where she directed the Jazz Lab Band and performed her own original big band composition with the Solid State Jazz Ensemble. After returning to New York City, she worked for two years with the New York Pops Salute To Music program in Queens, teaching saxophone and flute to junior high school students. Pattys other teaching interest is in mathematics. She worked as a tutor at both NYU and SUNY Oswego, providing individual and small group tutoring in various areas, from basic mathematics through calculus and GRE prep.
