Founded in 2000, Ensemble TOKI has performed at Merkin Concert Hall, Riverside Church, the Donnell Library, and Christ and St. Stephen's Church as well as many other venues in greater New York. As a winner of the Trinity Church's "Concerts at One" audition, the trio played at the St. Paul's Chapel in 2003. Ensemble TOKI's collaborations have included performances with the Terra Nova Ensemble, the Bridge Ensemble and the New Amsterdam Boys Choir. As soloists, the musicians of Ensemble TOKI have performed at Carnegie's Weill Recital Hall, Merkin Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. Its members hold degrees from the Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Oberlin College Conservatory, New England Conservatory and Harvard University. Past events with the New Amsterdam Boys Choir gave Ensemble TOKI a chance to collaborate with people of different ages and to reach audiences beyond its musical peers.
Ensemble TOKI is also committed to raising the profile of female composers and performers. On November 15, 2005, the ensemble presented its first program devoted solely to women composers. Since then, TOKI has been awarded a grant from New York Women Composers to give a performance featuring pieces by its members.
